Corporate Spotlight Day – April 29, 2017

Corporate Spotlight Day – April 29, 2017

We held our first department Corporate Spotlight Day on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 8:30am – 1:30pm at UC San Diego’s Medical Education & Telemedicine (MET) building. We (Office of Advanced Professional Education and Development) hosted this event in partnership with UC San Diego’s Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholar Affairs department, and the Postdoctoral Association’s Exposure to Industry program.

We had 49 attendees and presenters from five local companies: Pfizer, Inc., QuintilesIMS, The Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF), Prometheus Laboratories, Inc., and Illumina. In the morning, corporate representatives shared their personal career journeys, corporate missions, working environment, job pathways and availability, along with fielding questions from the audience.  After lunch, attendees had the opportunity to network in small groups with company representatives.

Based on surveys received, the day was a success, and everyone would like to see this become an annual event!
